What you'll need

Grab a small basket or bag, and a soft ball (like a tennis ball or small playground ball).

How it works

  1. 1~30s

Great! First, give your child the basket. Say, 'We're going to be nature detectives! Our first mission is to find three different kinds of leaves. Can you find a leaf that's big, one that's small, and one that's a special color?'

Watch for: Watch how your child searches for and selects the leaves. Do they look carefully? Do they describe what they find?

  2. 2~30s

Now, let's add a movement challenge. Give your child the soft ball. Say, 'Our basket is getting full! Let's carry our ball treasure too. Can you walk to that tree (or a spot a few steps away) while holding the ball with two hands and your basket?'

Watch for: Watch how your child coordinates carrying both the ball and the basket. Is their walk steady? How do they hold the ball?

  3. 3~30s

For our final treasure, let's use our hands to feel. Say, 'Now let's find things that feel different. Can you find something smooth like a rock, and something bumpy or rough like tree bark?'

Watch for: Watch how your child uses touch to explore and select items. Do they feel different surfaces? Do they use descriptive words?
