What you'll need

Place a small bowl with a few spoonfuls of a soft, scoopable food (like mashed banana, yogurt, or oatmeal) in front of your child. Give them a child-sized spoon. Sit beside them with your own bowl if you like.

How it works

  1. 1~30s

Great! Let's start by scooping together. Show your child how you scoop from your bowl. Then, gently guide their hand to help them scoop from their bowl. Let's watch what they do.

Watch for: Watch their grip on the spoon and their attempt to scoop.

  2. 2~30s

Now, let's explore how the food feels. Say, 'It's so squishy!' and gently poke your food. Encourage your child to poke or stir their food with the spoon. What do they do?

Watch for: Watch how they interact with the food's texture.

  3. 3~30s

Time for a 'Big Kid Bite'! Encourage your child to take a bite from their own spoon. You take a bite from yours too. Let's see their proud face.

Watch for: Watch the sequence from scoop to mouth.
