What you'll need

Have your child's meal ready with soft, scoopable foods like mashed potatoes, yogurt, or oatmeal. You'll need a child-sized spoon and their usual bowl or plate.

How it works

  1. 1~30s

Great! First, hand your child their spoon. Watch how they hold it. Do they wrap their whole hand around it, or use their fingers? Let's observe for 30 seconds.

Watch for: How child initially holds the spoon

  2. 2~30s

Now let's practice scooping! Guide their hand to scoop some food. Watch how they move the spoon through the food. Do they dig, push, or lift? Observe for 30 seconds.

Watch for: Scooping motion and coordination

  3. 3~30s

Let's explore textures! Encourage your child to feel the food with their fingers or spoon. Watch their reaction. Do they poke, smear, or bring it to their mouth? Observe for 30 seconds.
