Bath Time Independence Adventure
A warm, guided bath routine where parent and child practice independent washing, explore showering concepts, and reinforce proper handwashing techniques through playful conversation and gentle coaching.
Opens a guided voice session in TogetherTime.
What you'll need
Have your child in the bath with a washcloth, child-safe soap or body wash, and water at a comfortable temperature. You'll be nearby to supervise and encourage.
How it works
- 1~30s
Great! Let's start with our big kid washing challenge. Say to your child, 'It's time to wash your own body! Can you use your washcloth to make bubbles on your arms, then your tummy, and then your legs?' Let's see how they do.
Watch for: Watch for the child's ability to follow and execute the simple washing sequence (arms, torso, legs).
- 2~30s
Nice job! Now let's play with a shower idea. Say, 'Sometimes we rinse off like rain from a cloud. Can you tip your head back, close your eyes, and pretend you're under warm rain to rinse your hair?' You can use a cup or just your hands to gently pour water.
Watch for: Watch for the child's willingness and ability to position themselves (tip head back, close eyes) for rinsing.
- 3~30s
Fantastic! Now for our final challenge: Super Handwashing. Say, 'We need to wash the germs away! Can you rub your palms together, then the backs of your hands, wiggle your fingers together, and give your thumbs a hug?' Let's see their technique.
Watch for: Watch for the child's handwashing motions: rubbing palms, backs of hands, between fingers, and around thumbs.
