What you'll need

Fill bath with warm water, add bubble bath if desired. Have ready: 1-2 small cups/containers, 2-3 floating bath toys, child-safe soap.

How it works

  1. 1~30s

Let's start by washing our hands to make them clean boat captains! Show your child how to put soap on their hands and rub them together under the water. Say 'Scrub, scrub, scrub to make clean captain hands!'

Watch for: Watch how child rubs hands together with soap under water

  2. 2~30s

Now let's fuel our boats! Give your child a cup and show them how to pour water over their bath toys. Say 'Pour the water fuel to make your boat go!' You can demonstrate first with your own cup.

Watch for: Watch how child pours water from one container to another or over toys

  3. 3~30s

Time to clean our boats — I mean, our bodies! Say 'Let's wash the boat's sails — wash your arms! Now wash the boat's hull — wash your tummy! And wash the boat's flags — wash your legs!' Make it a game of finding each body part.

Watch for: Watch how child identifies and washes named body parts
