How it works
- 1
First, let's set up our treasure hunt area. Place a few household items around—like a pillow on the floor, a chair to go under, and maybe a box to go around. Then hide the treasure somewhere in the space. Once you're ready, I'll help you give your child directions to find it!
- 2
Now let's start the hunt! Give your child a simple direction using positional words. For example: 'Walk around the pillow' or 'Crawl under the chair.' Watch how they follows your spatial instruction.
- 3
Now let's make it more challenging! Give your child a two-step direction. For example: 'First go under the chair, then walk around the box.' Watch how they sequences these spatial movements.
- 4
Let's switch roles! Ask your child to give YOU directions to find the treasure. This helps them practice using spatial language themselves. You might need to model first: 'Should I go over or under?'
