How it works

  1. 1

Great! Let's start by explaining the game to your child. Say something like: 'When the music plays, we dance! When the music stops, we freeze like a statue. Let's try it together.' Then play a short bit of music and stop it after a few seconds.

  2. 2

Now let's mix it up! Play music for different lengths of time—sometimes short, sometimes longer. Encourage your child to keep dancing until the stop, then freeze. You can say: 'Keep dancing... and FREEZE!'

  3. 3

Let's add a fun challenge! Ask your child to dance super fast or jump, then freeze. Say: 'This time, dance as fast as you can... and FREEZE like a statue!' This tests stopping a high-energy impulse.

  4. 4

Now let your child be in charge! Say: 'Your turn to control the music! Tell me when to dance and when to freeze.' If needed, you can suggest your child says 'go' and 'stop'.
