How it works

  1. 1

First, let's explain the game. Show your child the marshmallows and say: 'We're going to build a tower with these! But here's the fun part - you earn one marshmallow each time you wait patiently for 30 seconds. Ready to try?'

  2. 2

Now start the first waiting period. Say: 'Okay, let's wait for our first marshmallow! We'll count to 30 together. Ready? 1...2...3...' Continue counting slowly.

  3. 3

After giving the first marshmallow, say: 'Great job! Now let's add to your tower. You have two choices: you can use your marshmallow now, OR wait for two more rounds and get three marshmallows at once to build something bigger. What would you like to do?'

  4. 4

If your child chose to wait, guide through the extended waiting period. Say: 'Okay, we're waiting for two more rounds! Let's make waiting fun. What should we do while we wait? We could sing, tell a story, or play a quick game.'
