Kitchen Symphony Sound Hunt

Start voice activity

How it works

  1. 1

First, let's gather our sound-makers. Help your child choose 3 to 5 safe kitchen items, like a wooden spoon, a plastic bowl, or a metal lid. Spread them out on a blanket or towel. Ask your child: 'Which one do you think will make the loudest sound? Which will make the softest?'

  2. 2

Now let's play with rhythm. Say, 'Let's make a pattern! Tap twice fast, then once slow.' Model it with your item. Then ask your child: 'Can you copy my pattern with your item?'

  3. 3

Time for our kitchen symphony! Say, 'Let's all play together. I'll point to you, then to me, and we'll take turns making sounds.' Start a simple back-and-forth. Then ask your child: 'What does our music sound like? Is it happy, silly, or like rain?'
