Outdoor Explorer
Parent takes baby outside and the agent coaches the parent to observe baby's sensory engagement with the natural world — noticing wind, leaves, birds, grass, sky. This activity builds early ecological awareness through multi-sensory outdoor exploration.

What you'll need
Go outside — garden, park, doorstep, or balcony. Baby in arms or carrier, facing outward or able to look around. No special materials needed.
How it works
- 1~30s
Just stand or sit still for a moment and let your child take in the environment. Don't point at anything yet — let them discover. you, watch where your child's eyes go. What does they look at first? A tree? The sky? A bird? Moving leaves? Tell me what catches your child's attention.
Watch for: Baby spontaneously attends to natural elements in the outdoor environment.
- 2~30s
Now let's engage more senses. Find something safe for your child to touch — a leaf, some grass, tree bark, a flower petal. Let them feel it while you describe it: 'Feel the soft leaf' or 'That's rough bark.' Also, draw your child's attention to a sound — a bird, the wind, a rustling bush. Does they respond to the natural sound?
Watch for: Baby engages with nature through multiple senses — touch and hearing in addition to vision.
- 3~20s
For our last observation, point to something in nature and say 'your child, look! A bird!' or 'See the flowers?' Does your child follow your point and look where you're looking? This is called joint attention — sharing a focus on something in the world together. It's a huge milestone.
Watch for: Baby follows parent's point or gaze direction to look at a natural object.
