How it works

  1. 1

First, let's set up our treasure hunt. Show your child the objects we're using. Say: 'Look your child! Here's our treasure: a spoon, a sock, and a toy car. Watch where I hide them!' Then cover each object with the blanket in different spots while your child watches.

  2. 2

Now let's test your child's memory! Ask: 'Can you find the spoon?' Give your child time to search. Remember to be encouraging whether they finds it or not!

  3. 3

Now let's try remembering two things! Ask: 'Can you find the sock AND the toy car?' See if your child can remember both locations. You might need to remind about the second item after they finds the first.

  4. 4

Let's add a sequence challenge! Say: 'First find the spoon, THEN find the sock.' See if your child can remember the order. You can use hand gestures for 'first' and 'then'.
