How it works

  1. 1

Let's start with something simple. Pick up the wooden spoon and show it to your child. Say, 'Look, your child! This is a spoon. It's made of wood. Feel how smooth it is.'

  2. 2

Now, let's try a different item. Pick up the plastic bowl. Say, 'This is a bowl. It's round and made of plastic. Listen—tap it gently. It makes a light sound.'

  3. 3

Let's compare two items. Hold up the spoon and bowl together. Say, 'Look, your child! Spoon and bowl. Spoon is long, bowl is round. Can you point to the bowl?'

  4. 4

Now, let's add an action word. Pick up the colander (or another item). Say, 'This is a colander. It has holes. Watch—I can put the spoon inside. In it goes!'
