Kitchen Band Jam Session
A fun music-making activity where you and your child create sounds with safe kitchen items, building focus through rhythm and repetition.
Opens a guided voice session in TogetherTime.
How it works
- 1
Great! Let's start by exploring the sounds. Show your child one item at a time—like tapping a plastic container with a spoon. Say, 'Listen to this sound!' Then hand it to your child and encourage they to try. We're watching to see if your child stays engaged with the item for a few moments.
- 2
Now let's add a simple rhythm. Tap two times slowly on your item and say, 'Copy me! Tap-tap.' Wait to see if your child imitates. If they does, try a three-tap pattern. We're looking for sustained attention through repetition.

Time for a mini concert! Say, 'Our band is playing a song! Let's keep tapping till I say stop.' Tap steadily for 10-15 seconds. Encourage your child to join. Watch if they stays with the activity despite small distractions (like a noise outside).

Let's wind down with a choice. Offer two items and ask, 'Which one should we play softly for our last song?' After your child chooses, play quietly together. This encourages sustained attention through decision-making and gentle focus.
