How it works

  1. 1

Let's begin with supported sitting. Gently hold your child's hips to help them feel secure. Place one of the interesting toys just within reach in front of them. Say, 'Look your child, here's your toy!' Observe how they responds.

  2. 2

Now, let's try a mini challenge. Keep one hand lightly on your child's back for safety, but try not to support. Gently roll a soft toy from your hand to just in front of them. Say, 'Here it comes!' Watch their balance as they tracks the toy.

  3. 3

Let's encourage independent sitting. Place a toy in your child's lap or just in front. Slowly move your support away—first your hand from their back, then scoot your body back a few inches. Say, 'You can do it! Play with your toy.' Watch for those first moments of solo sitting.
