How it works

  1. 1

First, let's hide our treasures! Take 3-5 small items and hide them around the room while your child covers their eyes. Make sure they're partially visible - peeking from under the blanket, behind a chair leg, or next to a pillow. Ready? you, tell your child to open their eyes and say: 'I've hidden treasures for you! Let's find them together. What should we look for first?'

  2. 2

Great! Now your child has found the first treasure. you, hold up the found item and say: 'You found it! What should we look for next? And how will you remember where you've already checked?'

  3. 3

Wonderful! you, as your child searches for the last treasure, say: 'You're getting close! I see you thinking hard. What are you saying to yourself to help find it?'

  4. 4

Perfect! you, after all treasures are found, say: 'You found them all! How did talking through your search help you? What did you say to yourself that was most helpful?'
