How it works

  1. 1

Let's start by watching a simple dance together. you, could you put on some gentle music and do a slow, expressive movement with a scarf or cloth? Maybe swirl it like a leaf or wave it like water. your child, let's watch together. What do you notice about how the scarf moves?

  2. 2

Now let's talk about feelings. you, could you do a movement that feels big and excited, then small and quiet? your child, how did those movements make you feel? Did one feel different than the other?

  3. 3

Time for your child to be the performer! you, place a pillow as a 'stage.' your child, choose how you want to move—maybe like an animal, a superhero, or just how the music makes you feel. you, you'll be the audience. After your child performs, let's talk about what we saw.

  4. 4

Let's create a mini-story together. you and your child, use movement to tell a short story—maybe about a flower growing or a rainstorm. Then, your child, can you tell me what part of the story was your favorite and why?
