How it works

  1. 1

Let's start by playing some music and encouraging your child to dance or move around. Say, 'When the music plays, dance! When it stops, freeze like a statue!' Then pause the music after about 10 seconds.

  2. 2

Now let's vary how long the music plays before pausing. Try 5 seconds, then 15 seconds. Notice if your child anticipates the stop or stays engaged during longer movement periods.

  3. 3

Add a playful challenge! Place a favorite toy nearby or make a funny sound right after the music stops. Observe if your child maintains the freeze despite temptation.

  4. 4

Let your child take the lead! Ask, 'Can you tell me when to freeze?' or 'Can you make a frozen shape?'
