How it works

  1. 1

Great! Let's start by putting one item in the box without your child seeing it. Shake the box, let your child feel its weight, and listen to the sound. Then ask: 'What do you think might be inside our mystery box? What clues can you use to guess?'

  2. 2

Now reveal the item! Let's say it's a spoon. Hold it up and ask: 'A spoon is for eating, but what ELSE could it be? Can you think of three funny or creative uses for this spoon?'

  3. 3

Now introduce a playful problem. Say: 'Oh no! Our toy car is stuck under the couch. We can't reach it with our hands. How could we use this spoon (or another item) to rescue the car?'

  4. 4

Now take out a second item (e.g., a sock). Ask: 'How could the spoon and the sock work together in a story? What are they doing? Maybe they're friends on an adventure!'
