How it works

  1. 1

Let's start by hiding 3 treasures around the room. {Parent_name}, can you place 3 items in different spots where your child can easily find them? Then say, '{Child_name}, let's find our treasures!'

  2. 2

Now let's count our treasures together. {Parent_name}, please place the items in a row and say, 'Let's count how many we found!' Point to each item as you count slowly: '1... 2... 3.'

  3. 3

Now for the key question! {Parent_name}, ask your child: 'So how many treasures do we have?' Wait to see if your child says 'three' or shows understanding that the last number counted tells the total.

  4. 4

Let's try with a different number! {Parent_name}, hide 5 treasures this time. After your child finds them, say, 'Let's count these!' Then ask, 'How many now?'
