Quiet Together
Parent and baby share a peaceful, low-stimulation activity. The agent coaches the parent to observe baby's attention regulation — how long they can sustain calm focus, how they manage transitions between engagement and rest, and how they signal when they need a break.

What you'll need
Quiet room, minimal distractions. One simple object for baby to explore (wooden toy, fabric book, natural object). Parent sits nearby but does not direct play.
How it works
- 1~60s
Let your child explore the object freely. Don't talk much — just be present. you, time how long your child stays focused on the single object. Does they turn it over, mouth it, bang it, look at it from different angles? How long before they loses interest or looks for something else?
Watch for: Baby sustains focused attention on a single object during quiet, unstructured exploration.
- 2~20s
When your child finishes exploring and starts to lose interest, watch the transition. Does they calmly put the object down and look around? Fuss? Throw the object? Look at you? How your child handles the transition from focused to unfocused tells us about their emotional regulation.
Watch for: Baby manages the transition from focused play to unfocused state with emotional composure.
- 3~30s
For our last observation, try something bold — do nothing. Sit with your child for 30 seconds with no toy, no talking, just being together. Can your child be content with just your presence and nothing to do? This is the essence of contemplative ability — being okay with stillness.
Watch for: Baby tolerates a brief period of no stimulation with emotional composure.
