How it works

  1. 1

First, let's set up our game. Place 3-5 kitchen items on the table where your child can see them clearly. Name each item as you place it. Then ask your child to point to each one as you say its name.

  2. 2

Now let's play our memory game. Give your child a simple 2-item sequence to remember. Say 'First find the spoon, then find the cup.' Wait a moment, then say 'Go!' and have your child touch or pick up the items in that order.

  3. 3

Let's make it more fun! Give your child a different 2-item sequence, but add a little challenge. Say 'First find something we drink from, then find something yellow.' Use descriptive clues instead of direct names.

  4. 4

Now let's try a 3-item challenge for your child who's ready! Say 'First find the spoon, then the bowl, then the sponge.' Wait a moment, then say 'Go!' Watch how your child holds all three in mind.
