How it works

    First, let's prepare our magic writing tray. Help your child spread the sand evenly in the tray. This creates our canvas for stroke practice.

    Now let's practice our first stroke: the horizontal line 一. Show your child how to draw from left to right. This is the foundation for many Chinese characters!

  3. 3

    Let's try the vertical stroke 丨. This one goes from top to bottom. Show your child how to draw straight down.

  4. 4

    Now let's combine strokes! Can your child make the character 十 (ten)? First horizontal, then vertical right through the middle!
