Magic Number Hunt & Trace
A playful scavenger hunt where {child_name} finds and traces numbers around your home, learning to recognize and write Chinese numerals through movement and discovery.
Opens a guided voice session in TogetherTime.
How it works
- 1
First, let's prepare our number cards. Take 3-5 pieces of paper or index cards. Help your child write the numbers 1 through 5 on them—you can write the Arabic numeral (like '1') on one side and the Chinese character (like '一') on the other. As you write each one, say the number out loud in Chinese. For example, 'This is 1, or yī in Chinese.'
- 2
Now, let's hide the number cards around the room—maybe on a chair, under a pillow, or on the wall. Ask your child to find them one by one. When they finds a card, have your child show it to you and say the number in Chinese. Then, ask: 'Can you find something in the room that matches this number?' Like one pillow for 1, or two books for 2.
- 3
Next, let's practice writing. Bring out your tray with flour, salt, or sugar. Place a number card next to it. Show your child how to trace the number with their finger in the tray—first the Arabic numeral, then the Chinese character. Encourage your child to try while saying the number name. You can say, 'Trace 1, or yī, like this.'

Finally, let's play a quick game. Hold up a number card and ask your child to show you that many fingers. Then, switch roles—let your child hold up a card for you to show fingers. Mix in Chinese number names by saying, 'Show me wǔ fingers!' or 'What number is this in Chinese?'
