My Responsibility — I Can Do It Myself
The child picks a small 'job' — feeding a pet, tidying toys, helping make a snack — and leads the process from start to finish. The agent guides the parent to step back and let the child take ownership while observing initiative, independence, pride in completion, and the ability to explain what they are doing and why.

What you'll need
Let the child choose the task. If they need help deciding, parent can offer 2-3 options. The key principle: parent should resist the urge to take over. Let the child lead, even if it's messy or slow. Parent should only step in for safety.
How it works
- 1~30s
Great job picking that! Now, your child, you're the boss of this job. Can you tell me — what do you need to do first? What are the steps? Walk me through your plan. Parent, listen and let your child explain — you can ask questions but don't give the plan. Let them figure it out.

Time to do the job! your child, you're in charge. Go ahead and do your plan. Parent, I know this might be hard, but please let your child lead. You can follow their instructions, but try not to jump in and do it for them. While your child works, tell me what you're seeing — is they doing it independently? Is they figuring things out?
Watch for: Child completes the task with minimal adult assistance
- 3~30s
your child, you just did a real job all by yourself! Before we finish, I want to ask you something. How does it feel to have done that? Are you proud of yourself? And parent, tell me — did you see your child feeling proud? What did that look like?
