How it works

  1. 1

Let's start with the soft toy. Gently place it in front of your child and say, 'You can touch it!' Wait a moment, then say 'No' calmly as they reaches for it. Watch how your child responds.

  2. 2

Now let's use the cup and spoon. Hand your child the spoon and say, 'You can tap the cup!' After a few taps, say 'No' softly. Observe if they pauses or stops tapping.

  3. 3

Let's try a pretend scenario. Hold the soft toy and say, 'The toy is sleeping, shhh.' If your child reaches to grab it, say 'No, let it sleep.' Watch for a response.

  4. 4

For a final turn, if you have a snack like cheerios, place one nearby and say, 'Wait, not yet.' If your child goes for it, say 'No' calmly. See if they waits.
