How it works

    First, let's get your child's attention. Sit or kneel where your child can see you clearly, about an arm's length away. Give your child a moment to focus on you.

    Now, slowly move your face a little closer to your child, keeping your expression warm and happy. You might smile or make a gentle 'oooh' sound.

  3. 3

    Let's try one more approach. This time, step slightly back, then come toward your child again from a different angle—maybe from the side. Keep your voice soft and happy.
