How it works

  1. 1

Great! Now hand your child one crayon. Let's see if they will hold it and make a mark. You can gently place it in your child's hand and say, 'Can you make a dot or a line on the paper?'

  2. 2

Wonderful! Now let's encourage more intentional scribbling. Point to a blank spot on the paper or a cheerio (if using) and say, 'Can you scribble right here?'

  3. 3

Now let's explore different movements. Say, 'Let's make big, giant scribbles that go whoosh!' and then 'Now tiny, little scribbles like rain.'

  4. 4

Let's add some color fun! Offer another crayon and say, 'Let's use this new color! Can you scribble over your first marks to make a rainbow?'
