How it works
- 1
First, let's start with a simple peek-a-boo. Sit with your child and cover your face with the blanket, then quickly reveal yourself. Say 'Peek-a-boo!' with a big smile. Let's see how your child responds.
- 2
Now let's try hiding your child's favorite toy under the blanket. Place it partly visible at first, then fully cover it. Ask 'Where's your toy?' and help your child find it.
- 3
Now let's practice a brief separation. Tell your child 'I'm going to hide behind this chair for just a moment!' Go behind nearby furniture where your child can still hear you. Count to 3 aloud, then return immediately with a big smile.
- 4
Let's reverse roles! Encourage your child to hide behind the blanket while you 'search.' Say 'Where's your child?' Playfully look around before finding them. Give lots of praise when you 'find' them.
