How it works

  1. 1

First, let's get your child comfortable. Place them on their back where they can see you easily. Now, take your soft toy and tie the string to it so you can dangle it gently. Hold the toy about 8-12 inches from your child's face, right in their line of sight. Let's see if your child notices it!

  2. 2

Now let's see if your child can follow the toy with their eyes. Very slowly move the toy from side to side, just a few inches in each direction. Move it like a gentle pendulum - slow and smooth.

  3. 3

Let's try something different. Bring the toy to a complete stop in front of your child. Hold it perfectly still for about 5 seconds. Count silently in your head. We're looking for sustained attention on a stationary object.

  4. 4

For our final challenge, let's combine what we've practiced. Slowly move the toy in a small circle, then bring it back to center and hold it still. Watch your child's beautiful eyes work!
