Gentle roughhousing

Playful physical engagement — gentle tosses, tummy tickles, side-to-side swoops. The agent coaches the parent to read baby's cues for 'more' and 'pause,' treating roughhousing as a dialogue of trust rather than stimulation for its own sake. Observations track baby's joy signals and the parent's attunement to pause cues.

What you'll need

Sit on a soft surface — a bed, a sofa, a rug. Baby in front of you, or held at your knees.

How it works

  1. 1~10s

Start tiny. A little belly poke. A 'boop!' on the nose. Watch their face.

    Watch for: baby_accepts_gentle_play_contact

  2. 2~30s

If they's enjoying this, go slightly bigger — a tickle under the chin, a gentle bounce on your knees, a soft 'zoom' lift. Still watching their face every single second.

    Watch for: dyad_shares_peak_delight_safely

  3. 3~15s

Here's the most important part: watch for their 'enough' signal. they'll turn away, get quiet, or look overstimulated. When you see it, stop. Bring them in close. Soft voice.

    Watch for: parent_reads_and_honors_stop_cue
