What you'll need
Materials depend on chosen medium — paper and art supplies, or space for movement, or a device for music. The source material should be something the child knows well.
How it works
- 1~35s
Before your child starts creating, ask: 'What's the FEELING or the ESSENCE of the original? If you had to describe it in three words, what would they be?' This helps them figure out what to keep when translating to a new form. What does they say?

- 2~60s
Now let your child create! Give them 8-10 minutes to work. you, observe without directing — notice how they makes decisions, whether they references the original, and how they handles moments of uncertainty. When your child is done or has a good draft, tell me what you see.

- 3~40s
Now the fun part — ask your child: 'What stayed the same from the original, and what changed? What was hard about translating it?' you, share what you noticed too. Tell me how the conversation goes.
