Sound-to-Object Discovery

A short responsive play routine where you treat your child’s early sounds as meaningful attempts, respond with an object/action, and build gentle back-and-forth turn-taking.

What you'll need

Essentials

  • a soft doll or stuffed toy
  • 2 safe everyday objects (e.g., a plastic cup and a clean cloth)
  • a comfy place to sit with your child (blanket/mat/your lap)

Nice to have

  • paper and pen (or phone notes app) to jot the sound and context
  • a small unbreakable mirror (only if already safe for your baby)

Movement level: low

What you'll do

The 4-step guide, with what to look for at each step, is for signed-in parents.
