Big & Little Picture Hunt

A cosy book-sharing game where you and your child look for ‘big’ and ‘little’ (or ‘big’ and ‘small’) objects in pictures, then connect the words to real items at home, building comparison language in a familiar routine.

What you'll need

Essentials

  • a picture book (or magazine/catalogue) with clear images of the same kind of thing in different sizes (e.g., big truck/little truck; big cat/small kitten)
  • a comfy place to sit and look together

Nice to have

  • 2–4 pairs of real household items with clear size differences (e.g., big spoon/little spoon, big cup/little cup)
  • a small basket or tray to hold the ‘big’ and ‘little’ items

Movement level: false

What you'll do

The 4-step guide, with what to look for at each step, is for signed-in parents.
